Thanksgiving, November 26, 2015, is my 71st birthday.  Thanks to Tia, Bobby, Odin, the coaches (who are all, as we say in CrossFit, AWESOME), and all of the fabulous people I have gotten to know over the first almost 2 years, I feel 41…at least most of the time.  Such a pleasure to find my strengths and weaknesses with such a positive group…always encouraging me to do my best, always cheering me on, always giving me a high five!  I’ve learned skills, stuff I never knew…like the snatch (well I lift a pretty light weight for that), power cleans, pull ups (almost), wall balls, jerks, stones, running skills, hand stands (totally modified), jumping rope (double unders just aren’t happening), and, my favorite, the dead lift.  Then there is always the prowler, really good training if you have a push lawn mower (I do), and the occasional cartwheel (a pretty funny rendition).  My tire flips on Facebook have yielded oohs and aahs.  Of course I have my own personal tire.  I’ve learned that jumping is a problem for me…might as well do a broad step or a step up on the boxes. I love the people I’ve met through Odin.  I love hanging out with a diverse age group. I love the social gatherings too.   Scary to think of being somewhere where there are only people my age.  I want to keep doing this as long as I can, being with this fun group of people, and I am totally grateful for the encouragement and opportunities afforded by Odin and every one of the incredible people there.
